No employer wants to find themselves in receipt of a boilerplate letter from lawyers representing an angry employee. A year prior I had laid off a part time employee, for good and legal reasons. However, the letter was claiming "wrongful termination", and multiple other twisted, and outright false, claims. I felt helpless and misunderstood. Not knowing where to go or who could help me, I reached out to my business attorney, who called these attorneys, wrote a letter, and sent emails, but with no progress. I then asked an attorney friend who did plaintiff employment law to help me, thinking he could "speak their language". However, he wasn’t able to move the needle with these "puppy mill" plaintiff attorneys either. After racking up thousands of dollars in legal fees, I was still nowhere. So, I did what is done in medicine (I am a doctor), I sought out a specialist. The principle in medicine is that because of the complexity of the body, if a pain or disease process is not resolving, it’s time to see a specialist. From the first moment I spoke to Lisa, I knew she "got it." She is a straight shooter, and not only brilliant, but empathetic to my emotional pain. Lisa was the first attorney to offer a straightforward legal strategy from the get-go, and in just over a month from my first contact with her, the case was settled. Although the settlement was more than I had wanted, it was far less than the amount first demanded, or what I could have potentially paid in continued legal fees. I wish I had known about Lisa sooner, not only to help me with this issue, but even before letting this employee go, as she could have helped to avoid the problem in the first place. If you find yourself in any situation like this, or want to prevent it, Lisa is your person. She is a godsend, and I am very, very grateful.

I want to thank Lisa for all the work she has done for me. I know with Lisa I always had a strong advocate in my corner. I was always impressed with her grasp of the many details, and I would never want to go up against her!

Before Lisa took on the case, she asked detailed questions because she said she only wanted to take cases she can confidently defend. I was even more encouraged when I found out that her specialty is defending companies against frivolous lawsuits. I almost lost my hope in the goodness of humanity with the two plaintiffs in my case, but she restored it with her selflessness. She is truly a brilliant lawyer with a heart of gold.

After the employment attorney hired by my insurance broker to provide harassment training to my Company’s supervisors did not show up, little did I know that her replacement, Lisa Sherman, would win me and my executive management over the way she did. Her presentation, bar none, not only covered what our supervisors needed to know, but gave real life examples from her own litigation experiences and through recent jury verdicts to wake up our management. After Lisa had informed us about a recent jury verdict where the employer fired the employee for stealing a 68 cent bell pepper, we had a similar situation occur right after the training at one of our stores. After seeking the advice of our current employment counsel, and contacting Lisa, we were sold on her. Since then we have retained her as our employment counsel. After Lisa informed me during harassment training that our proposed employee handbook, that was reviewed by several attorneys and human resource consultants still needed work, she not only reduced her rates to get it done, the final product was fantastic. Since then, we call her when we need her and she is always available, cost-efficient and informative. We feel fortunate to have her apart of our Company’s family.
