Yes. California Labor Code ยง 6401.9 requires most employers to implement a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) and provide employee training.
The training must include:
- How to recognize workplace violence hazards
- Reporting procedures
- Employer response protocols
- Emergency procedures
- Employers must also maintain a workplace violence incident log.
This requirement is enforced by Cal/OSHA. Non-compliance can result in regulatory penalties and increased liability if an incident occurs.
