Yes. California Labor Code ยง 6401.9 requires most employers to implement a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) and provide employee training.

The training must include:

  • How to recognize workplace violence hazards
  • Reporting procedures
  • Employer response protocols
  • Emergency procedures
  • Employers must also maintain a workplace violence incident log.

This requirement is enforced by Cal/OSHA. Non-compliance can result in regulatory penalties and increased liability if an incident occurs.
